glass cloches & dried flowers

Just playing with some decor around here as I shift things from summer to pre-fall.

Cloches & dried flowers1

Without meaning to I found myself with a bunch of dried blooms.

Cloches & dried flowers2

I shared with you not to long ago this post where I found myself with some dried roses that were reminiscent of my wedding.

And I always have dried hydrangeas from the garden towards the end of the summer, which I use throughout the house all year round.

Cloches & dried flowers4

And I decided to dry some sunflowers for fall decorating since I thought it would be an interesting twist to the fresh sunflowers I use in the fall.

Cloches & dried flowers5

And these white blooms inadvertently dried in the guest room when the vase dried up.

Cloches & dried flowers6

And dried lavender is always somewhere around here.

Cloches & dried flowers7

I put them all under glass since this would bring them all together and make them a cohesive grouping | vignette although they are all so varied.

Cloches & dried flowers8

You can always use this trick by either using like items which unites them in a vignette OR use similar vessels to display items that don’t necessarily match.

Cloches & dried flowers9

I chose cloches for this instance but you could for example use silver platters, bowls & pitchers or ironstone or whatever you collect or strikes your fancy.

Cloches & dried flowers10

Don’t over think it just always have one detail that ties items together to have them all get along if you will.

Cloches & dried flowers11

I love using cloches because it makes whatever you put inside | under them immediately a gazillion times more interesting.

Cloches & dried flowers12

I had my sea shells and coral under most of my cloches over the summer, which I shared here.

Cloches & dried flowers13

But I have slowly started to put away my summer decor transitioning into pre-fall mode, which brought me to this.

Cloches & dried flowers14

I love decorating sometimes when you don’t have an exact plan but you just play and sometimes you end up with fun & novel ideas.

Cloches & dried flowers15

Have you started transitioning away from summer and towards fall?

Cloches & dried flowers16

I know it seems early, BUT my kiddos start school on Monday and back to school always symbolizes fall to me.

Cloches & dried flowers17

You can see other glass cloches vignettes I created: late summer 2015 & fall 2015.
Happy pre-fall decorating!

  1. thanks sarah. i usually don’t have them all displayed together but rather spread out throughout the house, but sometimes it’s fun to bring together like items. things in mass always have such a great impact. thnx for stopping by. xo- mj

  2. Hi Mary JO,
You have so many lovely cloches, and they look so nice with the dried flowers and frogs, very vintage and Fall looking……….Pretty~
    Blessings, Nellie

  3. Beautiful display Mary Jo! A couple of years ago I fell in love with cloches and bought a couple then decided I didn’t have room for more. For me it always comes down to storage room. Thank you for sharing your links with us at Celebrate Your Story and have a great week!

  4. thanks sandra. i know! storage is always a big issue with everything. i keep my cloches out year round with something or other. they are usually spread throughout the house though not all together like this although i do love the impact it makes. xo- mj
