Okay, if you’re a regular reader and have been here longer than a hot minute, then you know I like to repurpose, reuse and recycle whenever possible. And here we are. I salvaged some recyclable pieces and made them into charming egg cups for Easter decor.

You can use these new egg cups in decor vignettes, or table stylings or as gifts in an Easter basket. The options are limitless.

How To Make a Creative Egg Cup DIY Three Ways

I have listed the egg cup DIY tutorials below in order of difficulty. Number one being the hardest and the last one the easiest. Please keep in mind this is relative, since none of them are extremely difficult. Also this can inspire other ideas to use items you might recycle on the daily, which we don’t necessarily use in our home. Take the idea and run with it, making it yours.

Egg Cup DIY #1 – Aluminum Can

SUPPLIES

• Small Aluminum Can (6 oz. size)
• White Paint
• Paint Brush
• Swirl | Flourish Stamps
• Black Acrylic Paint
• Sponge Paint Dabber
• Ribbon
• Floral Accent
• Hot Glue Gun & Glue Gun Glue Sticks

INSTRUCTIONS

• Read instructions thoroughly and assemble all supplies & tools
• Remove label and wash can thoroughly
• Using paint brush add a coat of white paint
• Repeat above step if desired (I used two coats of paint)
• When paint is fully dry, stamp desired symbol on can
• Once stamped image is fully dry adhere ribbon & floral accent with hot glue gun
• Voila! Enjoy you new egg cup DIY

Egg Cup DIY #2 – Petit Yogurt Jar

SUPPLIES

• Petit Pot Yogurt Container
• Jadeite Acrylic Paint
• Paint Brush
• Ribbon

INSTRUCTIONS

• Read instructions thoroughly and assemble all supplies & tools
• Remove label and wash jar thoroughly
• Using paint brush add a coat of jadeite paint
• Repeat above step if desired (I used two coats of paint)
• When paint is fully dry, tie ribbon around neck of jar
• Voila! Enjoy you new egg cup DIY

• Egg Carton
• Scissors

Tips & Tricks for Making the DIY Egg Cup Alternatives

Assorted mosses, including Spanish moss, reindeer moss, bleached moss, etc. can be used as accents for the eggs to rest on in the DIY egg cups. I like the organic touch moss brings to the party but other options are crinkled paper, faux Easter grass, raffia and more. Use what you hopefully have on hand to keep this project ridiculously affordable.

These cute up-cycled containers can be used for other spring decor as well. They make unique little vases for fresh spring blooms. They can also make adorable displays for other spring items like mini nests or carrots or little bunnies sticking out. The more I think about it, the more ideas pop into my head.

The design can also be adapted to your home aesthetic. Use paint colors, which coordinate with your style. Pastels are perfect for spring and making multiple pieces in pink, yellow and light blue would be adorable. Also add ribbons and trims, which match your home interior. You can decorate these little vessels as much or as little as you desire.

I used an acrylic stamp for the flourish design on the tin can. By using acrylic paint instead of a stamp pad creates a stronger imprint. I used a sponge dabber to apply the paint to the stamp to control paint and prevent over saturating the stamp design. Too much paint will cause the stamp to run and smudge. Practicing the stamp on a piece of paper is always a good idea to practice, placement and pressure.

Originally I was going to use a monogram stamp and forego the ribbon, but I decided to keep that idea for another project. I will share the monogram concept in a subsequent post.
