We’re not traveling to St. Thomas this week like we usually do, so I’m sprinkling a little valentine’s love around the house since I have some time on my hands.
A few weeks ago I gave a little sneak peek to some tabletop valentine fun I was creating | planning. You can see the sneak peek here.
Little Miss M and I will be heading to Atlanta over the Valentine’s day weekend for her cheer competition, which is the reason we couldn’t take our annual family trip to St. Thomas.
This leaves the boys home alone, so I created a fun table for us to enjoy this week before we leave on Thursday (this was my inspiration).
Believe it or not I had most of the stuff around the house. I always have doilies in all different sizes to line trays & platters. The red twine was left over from Christmas & straws are a staple in our home.
For the center piece I have roses from the front yard in a mercury glass vase. Some old books and floral frogs, both which I collect. Basically I need to find the right kind with the right price tag attached. The hearts I had in my valentine’s day bin much to my surprise & the mini bingo card is from my scrapbook stash.
I also have some cherry gummy hearts in my Pottery Barn silver mini snack bowl, I bought around Christmas time on sale. It reads “family is belonging to & believing in each other”. {love}
It all sits in my silver plate lazy susan. And the table changes depending on the meal & circumstance.

I love that I’ll be able to change the words on the wood slabs as the seasons and year progresses.
I love these mason jar mugs I picked up at Michael’s over the holidays. They have an inspirational word with some snowflakes so we can still use them throughout the winter. The kids use them for their hot chocolates all the time.
The mercury glass hearts are the only thing I did recently buy. They were Christmas ornaments marked down at our local Ace hardware store after the holidays.
The biggest fan of the table is little Miss M, enjoying her festive breakfast. Always. She’s also my biggest fan and forever sidekick. Can’t wait to see her compete next weekend!
The rest of the house just has some simple touches of love. Since we’re usually not around this week I don’t have much decor for this particular holiday.
I kept my mantle very simple. I moved the cast iron urns from the dining room table, using my moss balls. I added the cupid heart to give it a little valentine feel.
It was really hard to get the photographs just right since it was a really rainy & gloomy day when I took the pictures.
The flash makes the pictures too bright but shows the detail.
Without the flash the pictures are too dark.
Clearly my photography skills need improvement.
There’s an impromptu candy bar in the living room for Master M & Miss M’s enjoyment.
To get ready for our trip Miss M & I got valentine day manicures.
Just some girl bonding fun!
Not my usual thing but I was inspired by pinterest. Of course.
