Welcome to Styled 2 Ways – Spring Table Edition
Styled 2 Ways is a collaboration between Masterpieces of my Life, & From the Bay to the Beach, penned by Susan. Two different points of view for a particular styling, project or concept are shared. A guest host sometimes includes another styling for triple the fun. We publish on the 2nd Wednesday of the month @ 4AM Pacific Time. Thank you for joining us; it’s lovely to have you here.

Although Susan and I both like many of the same things, we both have unique styles of our own, and we want to share how the same idea can be expressed in different ways. Both ways are equally as fantastic, and appreciating other unique takes on the same idea expands our own personal style.

When you are done here, please hop over and check out Susan’s Spring Table edition post with a Southern California flair. If you are here visiting from Susan’s place, welcome, I am so happy you are here. Leave me a comment down below; I would love to get to know you. Come on in, have a seat and enjoy!

Inspiration for the Vintage Spring Table
If you know me, you know. I inject vintage vibes into most projects and not necessarily on purpose. It’s just my style. And I know many of you can relate and others not so much, but either way you can appreciate the aesthetic. And here we are.

The table setting is intermingled with an array of vintage pieces, whether inherited, thrifted, found or whatever it might be. Plus vintage impostor pieces are tucked here and there, including faux jadeite pieces, stained glassware and DT doily glass accent plates DIY. The pieces mix and mingle well and bring the whole look together. Although some of the pieces aren’t authentically vintage they still play the part well. Giving less than pieces a glow up is a great way to extend collections and add pieces in a more affordable manner.
How to Set a Vintage Inspired Spring Table
Setting a table with charm, character, and a touch of nostalgia will enchant your guests and provide plenty of conversation starters. A meaningful and memorable setting creates an atmosphere where everyone relaxes and wants to linger longer. If you spend the time and energy to set a table with intention, you want everyone to enjoy it to its fullest for as long as possible.
Plate Stack
The plate stack starts with a willow charger to inject spring freshness feels. The stacked plates all have a vintage vibe one way or another. Mixing and matching is the name of the game when setting an interesting and unique tablescape. The plates don’t necessarily match, but rather compliment each other.

- Willow Plate Charger {Pier 1}
- Lenox Citation Lace Dinner Plate {wedding registry}
- Glass Doily Accent Plate {Dollar Tree DIY}
- Green Depression Glass Handled Bowl {Ebay}

The plate stack has a mix and matched eclectic feel. The dinner plate came to us new 30 years ago, making it now vintage. The accent doily plates are a DIY, which provide a nostalgic feel, but are new. The depression glass green bowl crowns the plate stack with an unmistakeable vintage stamp. Depression glass has been around for over a century now, manufactured from the 1920s to the 1950s.

Place Setting
Each place setting is adorned with vintage and antique pieces, which has been collected through time either inherited, thrifted or curated. The mixture of old and new adds layers to the table and all have a vintage aura about them.

- Camusso Sterling Silverware {inherited | wedding gift}
- French Style Glass Goblet {thrifted}
- Perigord Champagne Flute {Chateau Sonoma}
- Antique Gold Rimmed Aperitif Glasses {thrifted}
- Monogramed White Napkins {inherited}
- Faux Jadéite Napkin Ring {thrifted DIY}

Some pieces I have acquired from my parents’ estate which I absolutely adore. For example, the napkins are my parents and are monogrammed with their initials “CD”. These will be passed down to one of the Masterpiece kiddos and that’s the beauty of legacy pieces. Sentimental value plays a big part in vintage items. Other pieces I have curated whether new or old with the vintage look which appeals to me and coordinates with my style.

Center Piece
The antique French bread board is a prized possession, which grounds the centerpiece. It was one of those items which was a splurge at the time, but well worth it. I actually shopped around for quite awhile and found a reasonably priced option. Always shop around for coveted vintage pieces to make sure you’re making an informed and smart purchase.

- White Embroidered Linen Tablecloth {thrifted}
- Vintage French Bread Board {antique shop}
- Silver Compote Urn Asymmetrical Floral Arrangement {thrifted | DIY}
- Faux Jadeite Sand Candles {thrifted DIY}
- Stained Glassware Candle Sicks {thrifted DIY}
- Assorted Green Depression Glass Pieces {thrifted}

The board is piled high with assorted vintage pieces. Some are new pieces with vintage aspirations, while others are truly vintage, curated at second hand sources or family heirlooms. Mixing and matching all these pieces tells a story and creates an interesting display your family and guests will enjoy. The focus of the center piece is the dramatic asymmetrical floral arrangement I shared the other day.

Tips & Recommendations to Keep In Mind When Setting the Table
Curate & Ground the Theme
The vintage theme here tells a story and evokes a timeless aura which everyone can appreciate. Everyone sitting at the table wouldn’t necessarily say this is a “vintage themed table”, but rather just feel the nostalgic pull. Subtle touches go a long way and whisper echoes of a bygone era.

Layer Patterns & Textures
Including varied patterns and textures on a tablescape adds interest, depth and character. The floral and doily detail on the glass accent plates is delicate, while the willow chargers are rustic and the centerpiece arrangement is fresh. They all bring different emotions to the party. Layering textures and patterns adds a richness to the overall table design.

Use What You Love
This might seem obvious, but always lean into your personal style and preferences. I’m a vintage loving soul, hence why I love to use vintage pieces and inject nostalgic vibes. It doesn’t mean all my guests need to be vintage lovers, but I would bet anything they enjoy and appreciate it when they are in my home as a clear reflection of who I am.

Shop Your Home First
I’m a big proponent of shopping your home first and looking for decor pieces you can use in unexpected ways. Look at projects and ideas you have used in the past and reuse them. Look around your home and search for pieces to use and reuse, extending their purpose and worth.

Mix & Match
Mixing and matching table top pieces allows freedom to play and removes the pressure to follow any set rules. This allows all the vintage mismatched pieces to shine and add charm and character to any table styling. You don’t need to have a matching set of anything to set a thoughtful and pretty table.

Amp the Ambiance
Use details which reinforce the theme and bring it to life. The color palette and fresh textures on the chargers and centerpiece bring the spring feels front and center. The vintage pieces on the other hand bring the old world feels to the table, literally and figuratively. Candlelight always sets a festive tone and is reinforced here with the tapers on the stained thrifted glassware and the jadeite sand candles, bringing lights high and low on the table.

Thrifting for the Win
Thrifts are a great resource for vintage table top items. You can source dishes, glassware, linens, silverware and more. You don’t need to spend a fortune to set a pretty and festive table. Many of the pieces on this table are thrifted, including the tablecloth, some glassware, the faux jadeite and stained glass candle holders.

DIYs are your Friend
Creating your own decor and table accents creates a charming homespun atmosphere which is unique and has your personal style. Besides adding character, DIY pieces tend to be more economical than newly bought options. The stained glass candle holders are an easy hack with inexpensive thrifted pieces, which mimic the depression glass look. The faux jadeite pieces are one of my favorite imposter glow-ups with napkins rings and sand candles. I will share the sand candle step-by-step tutorial next week. The floral doily pates are a Terrain inspired dupe, adding a perfect floral spring accent. This easy hack is coming to the blog on Friday.

FAQs for a Vintage Inspired Spring Table
1. What vintage items should I look for?
Look for florals and patterns on dishware like vintage china, ironstone, and porcelain teacups. Add mismatched silverware, cut crystal goblets, or colored vintage glassware. Linens with embroidery or lace detail like tablecloths, runners and napkins are great options.
2. How do I make a table feel Spring inspired?
There’s a few ways to make the table feel spring like, including color palette, nature motifs and overall weight. Pastels and softer colors work well. Nature motifs like florals, birds and nests are great for spring themes. Spring is all about lightness, brightness and airiness.
3. How do I mix vintage without it looking cluttered?
You can accomplish this a few different ways. Keep a cohesive base by sticking to a similar color palette. Mix old and new by pairing vintage plates with modern dinner plates or chargers for a fresh look. Layer linens and dishes for a purposeful rich look.
