Tips & Recommendations for Embracing a Winter Table Setting
Embrace Simplicity
A table setting doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated to create a nice and enjoyable atmosphere. Simple pine cones create a serene centerpiece. It’s not necessary to spend on flowers and create an intricate arrangement. Pretty blooms are a fabulous choice for a centerpiece, but keep an open mind for easy alternatives. Pine cones can be free if you forage the outdoors. Moss balls are also on repeat over here or even give your houseplants double duty as a pretty table focal point.

Don’t Look a Gift Horse in the Mouth
Since friends and family know I’m all about setting pretty tables, many folks gift and | or pass on to me many table top pieces they don’t have a use for. This doesn’t mean they are lesser than items, actually quite the opposite. The Laguiole assorted horn silverware were actually samples sent from the manufacturer at the home & garden boutique where I worked. The owner, my old boss, passed them on to me since she didn’t need them and she knew I would use them. And here we are.

Recently a friend passed these lanterns on to me. They are brand new and fantastic. They coordinate with the Parkhill lanterns I have owned for years and are totally my vibe. You will be seeing plenty of them around here to do them justice.

Thrifting for the Win
Furthermore, all the copper and brown transferware pieces on this table are thrifted. It goes to show you don’t need to spend a fortune to set a pretty and festive table. Also the evergreen trees accent plates, which are the impetus behind the table design, are from the Dollar Tree. You can find economical table top pieces at garage sales, thrifts and flea markets.

The brown transferware tureen, the copper vase and Anchor Hocking glassware are all recent thrift store finds. If thrifting is also your jam, make sure to drop by in a couple of weeks for the first Thrifted Goodies installment of the year. I’ll talk a bit more about these pieces plus a thrifty up-cycle. Closing Thoughts
I hope this inspires you to set a cozy rustic winter table for your loved ones. Regardless of where you live, it’s always festive and fun to inject seasonal touches to living. It has actually been super sunny and between 50 and 60 degrees around here. Not very winter-like. Yet, still mentally I embrace the season.

Climates and life styles vary for everyone, but to embrace joie de vivre is beneficial for all. Small details like a simple seasonal table can warm the heart and lift the spirits. Stay sound and safe during these unprecedented time friends. Thanks for stopping by.

Beautiful table MaryJo. I am not ready to jump straight to Valentine’s yet so your winter themed table is comforting in January. This post will be a feature this week. #HomeMattersParty
Thanks so much Donna! I’m so glad you like the table styling and I appreciate the love. XO- MJ
Mary Jo,
I love those plates from Dollar Tree.. I will be on the look out for them next season…I did buy similar ones that I used in my Winter decor in Hobby Lobby but since they were chipped on the side ( I hid the chips with bottle brush trees) I got them for 50 cents each… I have the same soup tureen but in red transferware…Such a lovely tablescape… Thanks so much for visiting!!
