All About the Thrifted Goodies Series
The Thrifted Goodies series consists of monthly posts where my friend, Rachel, from the Antiqued Journey, and I share thrift store intel. Topics might include particular finds, tips, stylings, techniques, up-cycles, and general advice about thrift shopping mostly for home decor in general. Some months we invite a guest host. Thank you for joining us.

Today I am sharing recent finds and how to use them for Spring decor. Some of the finds I’ve shared here before or on my socials with sneak peeks. Some thrift finds might not necessarily scream spring on the shelf, but depending on how you style them and what you pair them with, they become perfect spring accents.

Rachel is sharing thrifted finds and how they are environmentally sound. She always finds the most amazing pieces! You don’t want to miss her latest post. If you don’t know Rachel yet, when you are done here, head over to visit Rachel and introduce yourself, while you check out her newest post

Spring Thrift Haul and Some Faux Jadeite Hack fun
I should say thrifts haulS. Since I found all these pretties in several different thrift shopping excursions. Some finds are even from a few months ago, but that’s the nature of thrifting. You gotta grab what you find when you find it, since it’ll probably be gone the next time you visit, which prevents thrifting regret.

Please come in and let me share my spring thrift hauls. Also green jadeite is perfect for all the spring vibes so I’m sharing how you can create the look with simple and affordable thrift glassware pieces. Jadeite is hard to come by these days, and when you are lucky to find a piece, chances are it might be on the spendy side. This is a solution to get the look for a fraction of the cost.
Spring Haul Finds and How to Style Them
Although most of these are recent finds, some pieces I’ve been holding on to for a few months for the spring season. You’ll see some of the pieces selected scream and look like Spring decor, while others not so much. By styling pieces with seasonal touches it creates an appropriate vignette for the time of year. By selecting decor at thrifts which is versatile is actually a better value since you can adapt it to different looks and holidays throughout the year, yielding a bigger bang for your buck.

Black Can Work for Spring
I picked up a few black pieces just because I liked them not necessarily thinking spring decor. The pieces include some vintage books, and a lace pierced metal vase. The books were $1 each and the vase was $2.50, which made picking them up an easy decision.

I don’t necessarily need any more books, since I have curated a healthy collection, but this black family is in a way a great neutral stage to decorate with different looks. The easiest way is to pair the book stack with ribbon in certain colors.

The black vase spoke to me for whatever reason and in the back of my mind I was thinking Halloween and holidays later in the year. Once again paired with the right color flowers and | or ribbons it can become a seasonal accent. I also figured once I had had my fun with it, I could give it with flowers as a hostess gift or the such without much investment.
Yellow is My Go to Color for Spring
I love the color yellow. It’s such a happy color and it’s perfect for Springtime. I found these yellow hankies back in the Fall at a thrift vintage sale. I knew I wanted to use them in the spring, and I actually have a few different styling ideas I will be sharing shortly.

Here’s a sneak peek to a Spring mantel styling scheduled for next week. I picked up five of these hankies with yellow flowers. The details are amazing on these beautiful pieces. I might have to do a post dedicated solely to these handkerchiefs, which seems to be a lost art.

Green, Anytime, Anywhere, All the Time
Green is my favorite color, and I use it in decor anytime of year, but it really lends itself to this time of year. I recently shared this amazing tole planter in a brocante vibes vignette. Brocante is basically a fancy, French way of saying flea market, and I am all about it.
The tole planter is one of those thrifting regret pieces. I left it behind the first time I saw it, and when I went back for it, the thrifting Gods were watching over me. The planter was still there, but it had been moved, so at first I thought it was gone. When I found it in the next aisle, I scooped it up and didn’t give it another thought. The piece was only $3.50 by the way. You can also spy the thrifted books in the above vignette as well.
Olio, Miscellaneous, and Anything Else
A cigar box was a fun find, which I shared in the birdcage vignette not too long ago. Boxes of any kind are great decor accents since they can house all sorts of things, trinkets and organics. The cigar box has a lot of color for my more neutral palette, but the graphics and lettering are great. Advertising pieces are always unique decorating accents.
The craft section is always a good spot to scour when thrifting. You never know what you’ll find. I have projects planned for the small wood hoop and the green peat pots below. I don’t have plans for the napkin rings yet, but they are a perfect canvas for a napkin ring DIY when inspiration hits. Stay tuned.

Last but not least, is the pretty bird graphic print. I’m not sure if it’s meant to be artwork or a tray since it has handles on the sides. The colors and birds are perfect for spring and it’s one of the most recent finds. It was priced at $4.50 and the marking on the back reads Pimpernel Made in England. You will be seeing plenty of this pretty piece since it’s a great accent and backdrop.
The Versatility of Thrifted Glassware
Thrifts are full of all sorts of glassware from vintage pieces to newer items, and they tend to be reasonably priced. During the holidays I created mini ornaments with a jadeite look, which inspired these faux jadeite glass pieces. The Pistachio Krylon paint used here is a more accurate jadeite hack color. Keep in mind once these pieces are painted they are not food safe. I plan to use my pieces strictly for decor purposes.
Warning: Painted pieces are not food safe. Only use as decor accents and not for consumption purposes.

The glass pieces were all priced at $2.50, $2.00 and 75cents. The napkin rings were $3 for a bag of 10, which are acrylic and not glass by the way. There’s also a new table scape project scheduled using these pretties. Plus there’s additional glass pieces waiting for a glow up as well.

Thrifting Pro Tip: Look at the potential of an item beyond its current state or condition. Items can be altered, up-cycled and recreated with TLC, elevating them to a trend forward piece.

Thanks so much Donna. Yeah the jadeite hack is a fun one. Thanks for the visit friend. XO- MJ
So so beautiful! I love this!??
Thank you baby girl. ?U ?
Hi MaryJo, I am visiting from Julie’s Tuesday Turn Around. I LOVE your bird print! And I like your faux jadeite idea. But I thought you might want to add in a disclaimer that these should probably not be used with food. The Krylon spray paint is not considered food grade, nor is any spray acrylic that I could find. If it is just used decoratively, though, it’s beautiful! Thanks for sharing your lovely ideas.
Hi Marilyn! I’m so glad you like it. Yes I have a disclaimer in my faux jadeite post where I used the same technique as here with decorative pieces which are Not food safe and stated as so. These are candle holders only but you never know. A disclaimer can never hurt so thank you for the heads up and recommendation. XO- MJ
