The temps around here are back to hovering around 100 degrees but I was finally able to score some pumpkins.

I don’t know if I’m looking earlier than in years past because of this blog thing, or if they are simply just slow to appear this year but there does not seem to be the quantity or as many varieties as in years past.

Either way I found some lovely cinderella pumpkins at our local Orchard Supply Hardware store.  OSH is a small hardware | nursery store out on the west coast (although I just read they were bought out by Lowes, who’s keeping them as a separate business unit).  They have great stuff and I saw these pumpkins outside before they even had the SKUs loaded in the computer.  The poor manager did not know what to charge me but he was super helpful and I left with some beauties.

I have also found some small white pumpkins in grocery stores but no boos to be found around here yet.

I haven’t used orange in my fall decor in a few years but this orange Echinacea flower got me.  I have only seen them in white or yellow and this one stopped me in my tracks.  I scooped it up as soon as I saw it and the woman working at OSH even commented when it was gone because it was the star of her merchandising vignette.  It was the only one they had and I had to have her.  I plan to plant her in the yard when the season is over so I can enjoy her again next year.

From there I added the black eyed susie and mums to coordinate.  I gotta say I’m loving the pop of color this year (only outside though).
Also I really do not need to add anything new to my fall decor repertoire but when I saw these metal pumpkins at Tuesday Morning, they gave me pause, but I kept on going.

Well something I bought had to be returned and these metal pumpkins were still there looking at me when I went back.  So for those of you who shop at Tuesday Morning you know they don’t necessarily merchandise much and like items are sometimes not necessarily all together.  So when I found there were three different styles | sizes to create a vignette and arrange just so, I started to look at them harder and harder. I looked at the price tags and it sealed the deal.  Into my cart they went.
It’s a very different look but I love how they coordinate with my galvanized planters.

And although the temperatures are way high during the day they do dip down in the evenings and it’s always a good idea to have a throw or blanket on hand.

I’m ready for the temperatures to drop and to dig out my sweaters and start sipping on some pumpkin spice lattes to join all this fall loveliness.

I don’t think I’m alone in saying I’m ready to welcome fall.

You can see my fall porch from last year here.
Happy first day of Fall !
