DIY Wheat Napkin Rings

This wheat napkin ring DIY adds the perfect touch of rustic and natural touches to any Fall table setting. The napkin ring tutorial is fairly simple to put together, but it provides a great finishing touch to a table design. With just a few supplies, you can make these too.

Last week I shared this Wheat and Tortoiseshell Pumpkin Table Design, where the wheat napkin rings had their debut. As promised, today I am sharing how you can easily make these yourself. It’s time to start thinking about our Thanksgiving festivities and these are perfect to add that special detail to any Fall table styling.

Inspiration for the Wheat Napkin Ring DIY

The wheat candle project was the precursor to the napkin rings and inspired to complete the look for the table. Since the wheat is paired with tortoiseshell pumpkins these plastic tortoiseshell rings are the perfect stage for the wheat stems. It’s a complimentary look to tie the entire table styling together.

How to DIY the Wheat Napkin Rings

Supplies

• Dried Wheat
• Plastic Napkin Rings
• Jute Twine

Tools

• Hot Glue Gun
• Glue Gun Glue Sticks
• Silicone Finger Protectors
• Garden Scissors
• Craft Scissors
• Ruler

Crafting Pro Tip: As I recommend with all my projects, read all the instructions through once and then re-read everything again. This way, you are familiar with everything you need, including supplies and tools, plus you know what to expect.

Instructions

• Read all the instructions and assemble all necessary supplies & tools
• Plug in hot glue gun to warm up
• Cut 5 wheat stems around 6 inches long

• Cut a piece of jute twine 6-8 inches long
• Hold the 5 pieces of wheat together and wrap jute twine around stems using hot glue to adhere twine to stems

• When done wrapping twine, trim off any stem pieces past the twine to leave a finished end

• Hot glue wheat bundle to plastic ring on the bottom right, placing wheat bundle diagonally from right to left slightly upwards
• Voila! You have a beautifully natural wheat napkin ring to adorn all your Fall tables

Tips & Tricks for the DIY Wheat Napkin Ring

In order to create depth and movement in your wheat bundles, use stems that are thinner and longer and of different shades. All the variations create interest. Every time I cut the 5 stems to include in each napkin ring I was conscious to use a small piece and a longer piece and a fatter piece and a darker one. All these variations make each napkin ring unique and appealing.

When you glue the wheat bundle to the plastic ring make sure to hold it in place until it’s fully set. This way you avoid and sliding, adhering the wheat bundle to the proper position.

These are fairly easy to assemble for the Thanksgiving holiday, and I have an even easier napkin ring DIY scheduled for Christmas. The holidays are the time when we set the most special tables and small details like a unique napkin ring bring the table to a new level. Easy table top crafts are always a great addition to any entertaining arsenal.
