As we skip into June and gardens are bursting outdoors, it’s nice to also bring some of those garden vibes inside. Come in and see how I dressed up the antique secretary desk in the living room with a garden styling.

We acquired the secretary desk from my parents, which I just spoke about in this post {book review – Feels Like Home}. My childhood home furnishings make my home today “feel” like home, and I love to honor my parent’s memory in my own home.

The secretary desk is old, and rustic, and chunky, and I love it! You can read more about the secretary desk here {through the seasons – an antique secretary desk}. I also included additional posts at the end with more stylings of the rustic desk.

details of the garden styling on the antique secretary desk
I love to bring the outside in, whenever possible. This garden styling provides all the outdoor summer vibes right now. I used various gardening and floral motifs on the shelves of the desk to evoke those summer, garden feels.

Floral Prints
I moved the floral prints from the foyer {a new spring foyer styling} since the foyer has a summer refresh now. I will share other summer decor around here as I add finishing touches. How is it June already?

Anyway, I thought the floral prints played nice with the garden styling. I love their smaller scale, since it lends them to fit into different vignettes nicely.

Botanical Cards
I picked up these cards on one of my last visits to Eugene, OR to see my son at college. Botanical drawings always draw me in, and these little cards just called my name.

I am sure they will be popping up in a variety of stylings and vignettes around here until they end up in a more permanent project capacity. I will let inspiration guide me. They would actually make a cute garland. Hmmm……

Floral Frogs
I love collecting vintage floral frogs. They always make great props for styling. The profiles alone are fabulous, but they can hold cards and other details and flowers of course.

You can see other projects with floral frogs here {spring vibes tablescape} and here {thanksgiving tablescape 2015}.

Fresh Blooms
Of course no garden styling would be complete without fresh blooms. These flowers are from our front yard. I did some pruning this past weekend and this is the reward.

The yellow flowers are from our dusty miller in the front sitting area. The purple flowers are from another silver leaf bush, but I can’t remember the name. I’m loving the unexpected blooms since we don’t realized they had lilac flowers.

Gardening Details
The little terra cotta pots of course evoke all the gardening feels. I actually purchased these at the Dollar Tree months ago for a different project(s). I hope to be sharing said project soon.

If you don’t want to miss out on any of the upcoming projects you can subscribe to receive all my new posts to your in-box.
I also included a set of mini gardening tools to keep the summer garden vibes going. These are great to use for houseplants.

other details on the garden styling
Along with all the gardening goodness I also included vintage books and advertising pots. This hopefully adds interest and variety to the garden styling. Happy June!

Ohmygosh! I literally have some of those English and French advertising pots that you have on your shelf! Great minds. . . I also love all your flower frogs! You can never have too many flower frogs -especially vintage flower frogs.
Thanks so much Anna. Yes all the advertising typography gets me every time! Also a friend’s father owned a florist business and when she liquidated it I was able to get my hand in some cool floral frogs. Thanks for the visit friend. XO- MJ
Oh MaryJo, this is beautiful! I am in love with your parents secretary. My mother has one, and I have always admired it even as a child. I need those cards, I will be on the lookout for some, they just set the tone.
