This table design was inspired by copper pieces and is set to welcome the spring season. Green accents and pretty blooms give the spring feels while the copper pieces ground the table styling. Copper walks that fine line between fancy refinery and rustic farmhouse feels. Come on in to see all the details of the table design.

The copper pieces are old and some of them are new. The copper has come to me in so many different ways. Some pieces I inherited, others I picked up while thrift shopping and others I simply bought brand new. They all play well together, and I love the warmth copper gives to a setting. I am excited to share and tell you all about these different pieces.

place setting details at the copper spring table
The table is set in the kitchen with a relaxed feel. The plate stack starts with a copper charger. I inherited these chargers from my parents, and they have a wonderful aged vintage patina to them. You can read more about them here {copper trend}. They usually grace our Thanksgiving tables which you can see some examples here {rustic Thanksgiving tablescape} and here {Thanksgiving tablescape with mixed metals}.

On top of the copper charger sits a Williams Sonoma Bistro plate followed by Royal Stafford black transferware accent plate. These are both our everyday dishes. The crown of the plate stack are these amazing individual copper dutch oven pots.

Aren’t they fantastic? I’ll tell you a secret. I got them at Home Depot. I found out about them from Barbara @ Mantel & Table, who found about them from Karin @ Karin’s Kottage. They are an awesome deal and exceptionally made. I love the brass handles.

For the flatware I just used our everyday set, which was also from my parents. Yup, the same utensils I grew up using, my family uses now too. I love that. Full circle.

The drink ware is an eclectic mix which is one of my favorite ways to set place settings. The water goblets are a recent thrift store find, while the copper mugs are an old thrift store find, which you can read all about here {why you should always thrift shop while on the road}. The green aperitif glasses were a gift from my mother-in-law. She passed them down to me, because she knows I love the color green.

Can we just stop a minute and admire the crest engraved on the copper mugs. That’s what stopped me in my tracks at the thrift store. I didn’t want or need copper mugs, but that little detail got me. Flax linen napkins are tucked into the mugs for a casual accent.

centerpiece details
The centerpiece is grounded by a rustic flax runner, coordinating with the napkins. A distressed shutter sits in the center of the table on top of the runner to ground the centerpiece. The chippy shutter was an upcylce project from a few years ago {chippy shutter centerpiece}.

On top of the shutter a collection of green vintage bottles are scattered about. You can read about the {green bottle collection} here and see how I styled the mantel for spring using the bottles here {easy spring mantel idea}.

Our rosemary bush in the veggie garden has these pretty blooms right now so I snipped a few branches to add to some of the bottles. The blooms are super dainty with a soft lavender blue hue. I love using herbs from the garden in tablescapes, like in this table {a bohemian tablescape}.

In between the bottles, copper mercury glass votives sparkle and shimmer. These glass votive holders were a great find at a recent thrift store haul, which I shared here {thrifted goodies – insights & inspiration}. The coppery shimmer is everything!

other details about the copper-y spring table
I added a wide burlap ribbon with green stripes across the table, acting like a place mat of sorts. I like the texture the burlap adds, and the colors blends all the elements of the table together.

With all the green, this table design could also serve for a rustic St. Patrick’s Day celebration. And on that note, I used the cute copper dutch ovens to make individual shepherd’s pie, a traditional Irish dish.

The little copper pots were amazing. I washed them in the dishwasher and they came out shiny as ever. It wasn’t until afterwards that I read the tag instructions. Handwash Only. Whoops. Well, they did just fine in the top shelf of our dishwasher. Our dishwasher is pretty old and not very gentle on my dishes so that’s impressive.

I have also used the little pots for chicken pot pies, using puff pastry. I hope to use them for French onion soup soon, and I will share here when I do.

What a lovely table MaryJo – your copper collection is fabulous! Thanks for the shout out, and sharing those darling little dutch ovens. Everybody loves them so much that they’re currently sold out everywhere. I’m thinking of putting my name on the waitlist at Home Depot and snap some more up when they restock. 🙂 Your shepherd’s pie looks delicious too. I’d love to be a guest at that beautiful table! Thanks for all your wonderful inspiration!
Thanks so much Barbara and of course. I’ve thought about it too. It’s such a great deal. Thanks for stopping by. XO- MaryJo
WHAT?!? I didn’t you know you had THIS much copper! It’s stunning, friend. I love everything about this table…the copper pairs so beautifully with all the green for Spring!! Bravo!!!
Thanks Rachel. It just happened by mistake lol. I love my parent’s chargers but I didn’t really covet other pieces at first. And then slowly through time I found unique stuff at thrift stores. You know how that goes…. XO- MJ
The table is gorgeous. I never thought about wide ribbon for runners.
I’m foolish and always forget to mention my table runners are old curtains. They are from our old home. I didn’t want to throw them away because they were in perfect condition.
MaryJo,
O My! I love all these sweet copper items…What really caught my eye is the copper charger plates and those copper mercury glass votives!! So pretty…I have some copper in my Kitchen and I have had those pieces for almost 30 years!! Thanks so much for taking the time to visit and also for your very kind comments! Glad to hear that you enjoyed my posts!! I hope you are having a great week!!
Hugs,
Deb
Thanks Deb! It’s always a pleasure to visit you. XO- MJ
Beautiful table MaryJo! I love your copper collection both old and new and it looks fabulous with the green. And those copper dutch ovens – oh my! Happy almost St. Paddy’s day!
MaryJo we are birds of a feather, I would have stopped in my tracks seeing that engraved crest in the copper mugs. I probably would not have given it a second thought and in my cart they would have went. Thrifting is wonderful since you find items not everyone else has. I just came across those copper pots, and I am swooning over them too! I also like your black transferware dishes. Good to know the pots will do okay in the dishwasher. I do not always feel the need to handwash anything these days, I remember my mom saying I am too old to put that kind of care and attention into whatever she was talking about, usually a piece of clothing. Now I think the same way! Ha! Oh, and I love the ribbon as a placemat. Happy early St. Patty’s Day!
Thanks so much Cara! You are very sweet. Yes! You will love using the little copper pots. They are so versatile & look amazing. Great way to serve soups, chilis, stews to guest and elevate the dish. Thanks for popping in. XO- MJ
