fall table setting

I am excited to share an early fall table setting today with copper accents and chalkboard pumpkin place cards. This table styling has subtle fall vibes without fully jumping into the pumpkin patch just yet.

The copper accents lend themselves with the perfect fall feels. Also the little pumpkin chalkboards is a super easy DIY that can be used in many ways. In this fall table setting I use them as napkins rings and place cards all in one. I will share more about how to make these and the many ways to use them in an upcoming post.

fall table setting details

The table is grounded by a plaid tablecloth that immediately sets the tone in a fall-ish color palette. Greens, golds and browns are always go to colors for me this time of year. You can read more about that here {how to start transitioning to fall decor slowly}.

The centerpiece has a bowl full of dried gourds flanked by copper pieces full of fall goodness. On one side a copper pitcher is full of wheat while on the other side sit a trio of copper containers holding more dried florals.

The copper double boiler was a gift from my MIL years ago from a trip to Paris. The other little sauce pot was an impulse buy at Home Goods, which is the perfect cache pot for these dried fronds. The copper mug was a thrift store find, which you can read about here {why you should always thrift shop while on the road}. This post also has many more details about our copper journey as well {copper trend}.

the plate stack for the fall table

The place stack starts with my parents copper chargers. I love the patina they have and they tie the centerpiece pieces to the rest of the table.

The dinner plate is a total retro plate to my childhood. It’s a floral ironstone plate that just screams 70s to me, and I have a fun table design using this whole set for the future. For this table the colors are great for fall.

The accent plate is an everyday piece for us. It’s part of the Royal Stafford collection, and as you well know, anything transfer ware always speaks to me. I thought the black ties in nicely with the chalkboard pumpkin placecards.

The napkin is actually a tea towel. I like the oversized scale, and the colors bridge the tablecloth and the blacks together.

The napkin has a DIY chalkboard pumpkin napkin ring I tied with twine. The chalkboard pumpkins serve as the place cards as well. I promise I’ll share all the details on how to make these soon.

The glassware is by Ralph Lauren in the Glen Plaid pattern. These were part of our wedding registry and have been with us for over two decades. The white wine glasses are by Spiegelau, from the Wine Lovers collection.

setting an early fall table is an easy way to transition into the new season

We are about a week away from the official first day of fall. If you have a hard time letting go of summer, a pretty fall table setting is an easy way to tip toe into the new season.

It’s not a huge decorating commitment, considering you enjoy the table setting for a bit and then you can move on. I do have to admit I am excited to start bringing out all the fall goodness around our home.
