so many reasons to love lavender

In a nutshell lavender is beautiful and smells divine. I love using it in so many different ways around my home and garden. Lavender is not only pretty, but it is also useful with many healing properties. There are endless reasons to love lavender.

Lately I have shared a few projects using lavender, so a post compiling all the lavender goodness seemed like a good idea. Here are some of the reasons why I love lavender, and the ways how I use lavender around our home.

plain & simple – lavender is pretty

Lavender evokes images of magical fields throughout Provence to me. In order to capture some of that essence, we have some lavender plants in our back yard, which I shared here {summer garden updates}. This helps intensify my lavender love.

We have several lavender plants around our vegetable garden. From these handful of lavender shrubs, I harvested to create many of these projects. I highly recommend adding some lavender to your garden if you don’t have any already. This simple bouquet for this tablescape smelled delightful {a bohemian tablescape} and was perfectly simple.

lavender is even pretty in beverages

I not only love the way lavender looks and smells, but I also like how it tastes. It’s a super complex flavor that embodies all the scent notes in a bite. I shared how to create these ice cubes stirrers, which infuse great flavor in your beverage of choice.

As the ice melts, the fabulous lavender flavor seeps into your drink, adding an amazing depth of flavor. This can elevate a plain glass of water to a complex cocktail. Cheers!

lavender tastes pretty special in desserts as well

Lavender not only smells heavenly but also has a magical flavor. I will admit, I always wanted to cook with lavender simply because it looks so pretty. But let me tell you, the flavor blows me away. If you did not see this post for {lavender honey posset recipe}, I highly recommend it.

The recipe is not only super easy, but the lavender essence totally elevates it a notch. When I made this for the first time with Miss M, I simply thought the lavender would simply be decoration that was quickly pushed aside. Not the case my friends. Everybody ate.all.of.it, including the lavender. Super delicious and special.

we all know lavender smells heavenly

Besides tasting amazing, we all know lavender smells wonderful as well. I love how lavender smells. The scent is calming and soothing. I sweet blogging friend sent me these lavender sachets. She knows me too well, and it shows how this bogland we all visit is an amazing place.

These sachets smell incredible, and I love using them in my drawers. They infuse a great scent to everything. Of course the market place is flooded with lavender candles, diffusers and oils, but there’s something special about the lavender fragrance right off the flower.

lavender dries nicely to have some lavender love all year long

It’s wonderful to harvest lavender fresh from the garden and enjoy it immediately. It also dries beautifully for fabulous projects like this wreath my girl fiend made me. She also has lavender plants in her yard, and she does a great job of harvesting it and sharing with friends.

I’m inspired and plan on more lavender projects next growing season. I know you can buy culinary lavender, but there’s something so very satisfying to create with your own personal harvest.

I know there are many lavender lovers out there. I encourage everyone to use this pretty flower. Cook with it, decorate with it, craft with it, and gift it to anyone and everyone. lol. You can tell I am a bit lavender obsessed at the moment.

Do you use lavender around your home in any special way? I would love to hear more ideas. I know it has great health benefits and is used in many aromatherapy treatments. Lavender helps with mood disorders, including anxiety, depression, and fatigue. It also has anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties. It’s a pretty amazing flower all around.

“To make a perfume, take some rose water and wash your hands in it, then take a lavender flower and rub it with your palms, and you will achieve the desired effect”

  6. I love this so much! Lavender is my favorite plant after rosemary, but unfortunately, our Minnesota weather is too cold to grow them outdoors. Last year I tried growing a variety that is supposedly hardy here but nope– it failed. So, I just keep purchasing the dried lavender and put them all over the house.
