Even if you are not a big decorator for the St. Valentine’s holiday there are small touches you can add to your home that are fresh and compliment Valentine’s Day. Here are 3 Valentine’s Day vignettes with an easy, a medium and an intricate level of complexity.

{1} an EASY Valentine’s Day vignette
The other day I shared our romantic mantel in the {romantic BOHO table setting by firelight}.

A display of candlesticks haphazordly lines the mantel while a garland is loosely draped on the mirror. That’s it. Done!

The details that help this mantel-scape evoke romantic or Valentines vibes are the pink candles and the hearts in the garland. You can learn all about the details of the garland here {happy Valentine’s Day}. Two small details with a big impact.

{2} a MEDIUM Valentine’s Day vignette
This Valentine’s Day vignette is pretty simple too, but it requires some effort in creating a floral arrangement.

The arrangement here is not too complicated with a mix of white tulips and white stock. You can choose how fancy or simple you want to create the arrangement. I chose this red mercury glass vase as a nod to St. Valentine’s since I customarily do not use much red in my decor. The vessel or vase you use is a personal choice but consider the flowers and greenery you will be using and the feeling you want to evoke.

After making the floral arrangement I placed it in the dough bowl full of winter pine cones on the coffee table in the living room. You can see how the dough bowl looked before in this post {a guide to winter decorating}. I chose to keep it on the simple side and just used the floral arrangement with pinecones. This is a baby step to transition from winter decor into more of a spring feel in my home.

{3} an INTRICATE Valentine’s Day vignette
This vignette is a bit more complicated with different layers and textures.

I used the white roses that were left over from our {romantic BOHO table setting by firelight}. Here are the details on how to use flowers and reuse flowers to their full potential {stretching grocery store flowers}. I wanted a rustic vibe for this vignette so I used a birch container for the flowers.

Valentine’s Day always speaks flowers and candies to me and I included both in this vignette. Along with the organic balls I also included some heart motifs. I used a trio composition for both of these elements. When I put vignettes together I apply to the rules of odd numbers, which adds more interest and allows for a more dynamic composition than pairs or even numbers.

I used three balls and three hearts when I arranged this vignette without meaning to. I included a preserved boxwood orb in the urn and two moss balls in varied sizes and colors on the tray. For the hearts, there is the heart wreath hanging on the mirror, which I made last year and can be read about on this post {heart wreath}. There is also the olive wood heart dish with candies and a little vine heart on the tray.

Of course the candle and lanterns also add immediate mood to the entire vignette. I use candles and lanterns throughout my home all year long. I love the ambience they create and the soothing feeling they provide.

None of these Valentine’s Day vignettes are better than the other, they are all just different and appeal to people for different reasons. You can also check out my {love} Pinterest board for more ideas. Hope this inspires you to add a little bit of love touches in your home. 💖

I love vignettes. They really make a home cozy and inviting and that’s exactly what your vignettes did. they are beautiful and not over the top with the traditional Valentine decor. The word that comes to mind is elegant. Pinned & tweeted if buttons are available. Thank you for sharing at #OMHGWW. See you next week.
I love these ideas, MaryJo!! I love how you showed three different ways to create a vignette as well for others who might be new to this sort of decorating. Each one is so pretty and evokes the holiday so beautifully!
Thanks so much Rachel! Red & pink aren’t in my wheelhouse so this holiday always challenges me, but that’s the fun part! XO- MJ
