Easter menu ideas

Happy Easter week!  I hope everyone is enjoying some type of Spring goodness in their neck of the woods.  Over here we are prepping and preparing for the Easter Sunday celebration.

The menu is pretty much set and the shopping is mostly done.  Some final decorating details are getting done plus the Easter tablescape will be set and we are all set to go.

When we host at home our main menu does not change much, but we play around a bit with the hors d’ouevres and desserts.  Deviled eggs of course are a must on Easter Sunday {for us anyway}.  Cucumber tea sandwiches are always a favorite.  I feel their freshness and daintiness lends them for Easter feels.  For whatever reason I also associate salmon with Easter and although it’s not our main I did incorporate it into the hors d’oeuvres.

In the past we have served the Vichyssoise soup as an hors d’oeuvres or as a first course appetizer while seated at the table.  This year we will be enjoying it at the table followed by lamp chops.  Once again we have done lamb racks in the oven or grilled chops on the grill.  Mr. M will be grilling them this year since the weather is so splendid it will be nice to enjoy some sunshine while the chops grill.

The above picture was from a year we tried a Martha Stewart recipe for roasted racks of lamb and they were pretty delicious.  Now that the menu is settled the focus is on setting the mood and table.

A dough bowl full of grapevine carrots and piles of faux eggs will be the centerpiece for the Easter table.  It’s simple and easy and has been gracing our kitchen table during Holy Week.

Sebastian is still home so there will be seven of us this year.  I am super excited to host my nephews here this year from Uruguay.  After Easter it’s Miss M’s spring break so we are heading to Lake Tahoe for a few days and after that we need to figure out when to get Sebastian back to University of Oregon.

See all the Wisteria blooming in the background in the backyard?  Like I said, the weather has been pretty spectacular around here and we’ve already been out in the garden a bit.  Garden updates coming your way soon!
Easter Menu Ideas9The silver tray chalkboard menu is from quite a few years ago and you can see we stay pretty consistent.
