St. Patrick’s Day crafting vignette

St patricks day crafting vignette

The other night I was inspired to cobble together some St. Patrick’s day altered art from my craft supplies.

I started scrapbooking years ago when the masterpiece kiddos where littles.  After a few years of fully embracing the hobby, I taught classes and acquired quite a bit of inventory.  I am sad to say I have not indulged in the hobby in many years but I still own way too many supplies.

My family asks me all the time to start memory keeping | scrapbooking again so I have been attempting to organize my crafting supplies.  Looking and sifting through all my supplies inspired me to start a project and with St. Patrick’s day fast approaching, I figured it was a relevant way to dip my toes back in the paper crafting pool.

A seasonal vignette in the foyer showcases the little pieces I put together.   I created the playing card and bingo card the other night.  The “lucky” book I have had for years, which I created during my “scrapbooking” days and you can read more details here{a rash of good luck}.

I don’t necessarily decorate for St. Patrick’s day but I usually decorate the Bombe chest in the foyer with seasonal decor.  It sets the tone when guests walk through he door.

Our home is one story and the front door & foyer sit in the center of our house, dividing the private section of the house {bedrooms} from the public areas {kitchen, family room, dining room, etc.}.  We walk through this center point many times per day and these seasonal vignettes are always a bright spot to walk past.

The day after I set this vignette up my daughter came in the kitchen and said she loved how the front table looked.  🤩

To set the vignette I shopped my house and I grabbed a few things I thought would give some St. Patricks day vibes.  The oversized shamrock I found at Hobby Lobby a few weeks ago discounted 50% when I was shopping for another project.  I just grabbed it because the price was too good to pass up and I loved the mossy|woodsy feel of it.  I had no idea what I would use it for {maybe a wreath? – not sure} and it became the perfect backdrop for this vignette.

Add some forced paper whites in ironstone, a vintage green plaid thermos, a brass bell, some vintage skeleton keys and moss rocks and viola the vignette is complete!

It was fun to delve back into paper crafts and altered art mediums.

As far as the St. Patrick’s Day holiday. I also have a tablescape that I will share soon.

The foyer opens up to our dining room so here’s a little sneak peek to the St. Patricks day tablescape.  Come back and see it tomorrow.

  1. What a great vignette! It’s too funny — our stories are so similar. I was an avid scrapbooker when the kids were little. I LOVED it! Creative Memories and all that. I amassed a TON of supplies (half the fun, right?)so I really hope to get back to it one of these days:) Thanks for sharing at Vintage Charm. xo Kathleen

  2. Yes! Me too. I was a creative memories rep for a few years. {I think that’s what it was called}. I am trying to get back into it….slowly. It’d be great to scrap together some day. 🙂. XO- MJ
