simple & easy ways to decorate for St. Patrick’s Day

March has kicked off and I wanted to share some quick and easy ways to decorate for St. Patrick’s Day.  Just like the recent Valentine’s Day it’s not a big decorating holiday, but there are small touches you can add around your home.

Decorating for St. Patrick’s day with flora

Of course just injecting green anything immediately starts you off in the right direction for St. Patrick’s Day.  A simple way to do this is to use plants and flowers.  For St. Patrick’s Day I love to bring in bunches of Bells of Ireland and shamrock plants.

Green flowers are festive and fresh looking.  I used a variety of flowers for the St. Patrick’s Day tablescape {stylish St. Patrick’s Day tablescape} below.

I love setting tables for seasonal holidays and all the green for St. Patricks day always makes me happy.

Decorating for St. Patrick’s day with green decor

Besides green flowers and plants you can also use green decor items together to infuse some St. Patrick’s Day vibes. Some items that come to mind off the top of my head are plates, bottles, books, etc.

My green bottle collection is a great foil for this holiday.  Look around your home and I am sure you can find some green items you can group together to create a St. Patrick’s Day inspired vignette.

Green is a go to color for me and I am usually attracted to items in this color palette so I have plenty to work with in this regard.  Use things that you like in your home and make you happy; there’s no need to go out and buy anything St. Patrick’s day specific.

Decorating for St. Patrick’s day with crafts

You can also create a quick craft if you want to showcase something more St. Patrick’s day “specific”.  I have made a couple of things that are not super complicated and are much better than all the bright plastic merchandise out there.  I put this “Lucky” banner together from items in my crafting stash.

I also made this little book eons ago for a scrapbooking class I took when my kids were littles.  I pull it out around this time every year and I love to read my thoughts and see the pictures frozen in time.  Makes.me.smile.every.single.time.

You can see all the details of this little “Lucky Us” book here {a rash of good luck}.  If crafting is not your thing another organic way too add green touches to your decor is by adding a touch of moss here and there.

It’s no secret I love moss anything.  I use moss in many ways all year round and for whatever reason it reminds me of the terrain in Ireland.  I used these moss stones in the {stylish St. Patrick’s day tablescape} post.

You can use one of these ideas alone or all of them together to bring some St. Patrick’s day feels around your home. It’s festive and fun and I hope it brings you some inspiration for decorating for St. Patrick’s day..

So pretty! As a Scotch-Irish-Polish person, I have devoted part of my living room wall (hate having an open concept house–not enough walls to hang things on!) to Irish blessings. Wooden, resin, framed, you name it!
