Bottle & jar decor projects

Many different jars and bottles are used in home decor.  I am partial to the vintage styles of many different types, including apothecary bottles, demijohns, milk bottles, canning jars, seltzer dispensers and the list goes on.

The marketplace is also flooded with many reproductions or contemporary versions as well.  Whether you prefer the vintage styles of the past or lean towards newer versions, there are many simple ways to upcycle everyday bottles and jars to create your own personal items.

Today I will share 5 different projects you can apply to items that would normally end up in your recycling bin.  I hope this inspires you to create something new and unique to your style.  Some of you might remember I recently shared my brown bottles with French labels I created a few years ago.

If you follow the link to the original post above it will give you the instructions on how to create these.  I love how these turned out and they are very versatile to use in many ways.  Here I used them on our mantel in the living room for an early Fall feel.

I also used these bottles in a romantic tablescape for Valentine’s Day last year as little vases at each place setting with a eucalyptus sprig.

Most recently I used them in my front foyer vignette.

This is made from everyday beverages like sodas, beers, ice teas, lemonades, frapuccinos, etc.  After I distressed the bottles I then foraged my yard for some organic elements and viola!  The above vignette had a Fall feel to it and then I changed it up to a more Spring like vibe.

There is a wide range of things you can do based on how you choose to display the bottles plus what items you use to accent them.  Super easy.  Super fun.  Super unique.
Another project, which is as much practical as it is pretty is this match stick apothecary jar.

Matchsticks are a necessity as the days get longer and we start to nest in our homes more & more over the Holidays.  We use candles, votives, lanterns, fireplaces and more.  Why not have the utilitarian, much needed matches be pretty too.Apothecary matches5
The next project is probably the most complex of them all but it will add the most fun to your decor by far…..if you’re a Halloween decorator that is.  I created a batch of potion bottles for Halloween vignettes.

You can do as much or as little as you want with these.  I also made quite a few, which you obviously do not have to.  These are super fun to use for Halloween vignettes every year.  I know everyone is not a Halloween decorator but if you like creepy Halloween this is for you.

One year I used the potion bottles in my centerpiece for a Halloween tablescape.  My gears are turning on a different, fun way I can use them this Halloween season.

The last project I will share with you is for Christmas.  I used Salt & Pepper shakers from the Dollar tree to create this craft but the thrift store is a great resource to pick up a S&P set shaker as well.

I created these snowy scenes with bottle brush trees in each jar and I’ve used them in so many different ways.  They are a great little accent for a decorated Christmas kitchen or you can use them as unique ornament on a tree.

They also make a unique hostess gift for all the Holiday festivities with family and friends.  These are also the perfect accent for a Holiday placesetting and tablescape.

Many of these projects use the same or similar techniques so once you have gone through the process once you can apply your own creative twist.  I hope this inspires you to create something of your own.
