Up next on my {through the seasons} series I thought I’d share my collection of green bottles. Right now they sit empty in the new year awaiting their first blooms.
The collection lives on the kitchen table most of the time although they have been known to travel to other spots in the house.
Most of the time they hold fresh blooms of the season or mood. Some of my favorite blooms are hydrangeas from my garden, or bells of Ireland, or peonies when they are in season. The list is endless really…
I’ve acquired this collection through the years and they come from a variety of countries including USA, France and Uruguay that I know of with certainty.
The lighter green bottles are all home grown in the good ‘ole US of A.
The mid sized darker green bottle is a milk bottle from Uruguay, which is the least vintage of the collection. I actually have 3 of these milk bottles from Uruguay, which were a gift from my cousin. The fact that she schelpped these for me, on the plane, all that way, makes them even that more special to me; she fully gets me.
The smallest dark green bottle is from France and for the life of me I can’t remember it’s purpose, {grape seed oil maybe?} … if somebody knows please remind me. i love it’s petite stature!
Now when I see any interesting, vintage green bottles when I’m out and about I have to resist the urge to bring it home, since I have called my collection complete. this shows huge restraint on my part, which if you know me is SO not easy.at.all.
The bottles have been empty on the kitchen table since christmas was put away and I’m itching to get some new blooms and brighten up the room.
Although they still make a statement when they are empty because they are in mass. that’s the whole point of a collection. Right?
That’s it for my collection, and I hope you enjoyed me sharing a little piece of the things that make me happy and smile. I also hope all these blooms brighten up some of the winter blues hanging around. This is the lull after the christmas & new year high, before we pick up again with pre spring and spring brightness.
