brown bottles with french labels DIY

I thought I would share an oldie but a goodie.  I made these bottles a few years back and I love using them especially around this time of year.
The weather has been around 100 degrees around here the last couple of days, which makes it really hard to get into a fall festive mood.

But I did manage to decorate the mantel for early fall because I wanted to make these french label brown bottles.

I’ve had this idea for awhile since I was ready to take down this decor in the kitchen.  I shared how to make it last fall here & updated it here.

I also had these small bottles.  once again I loved the color and shape of them and once upon a time they held facial moisturizer, vanilla extract and therapy oil.
I antiqued all the bottles, printed french labels from the graphic fairy and decoupaged them onto the bottles.  I showed how to do this last year in my halloween potions diy.

Then I filled them with my limelight hydrangeas from the garden that are slightly starting to turn color .
Some books and feathers are the perfect fall accents to start the season slowly.

Although blogland is making me want to pull out all my pumpkins and fall decor from the attic, I’m holding off a little bit longer since I’ll have the fall decor out all the way thru the end of November | Thanksgiving and that’s a long time for me to have any one thing out.
I get bored and want to change things around and 3 months is a long time…

Although I do have the halloween reprieve between the September early fall decor and the November Thanksgiving fall decor it’s still a long stretch.
So I’m starting slowly with little details like these sweet bottles with french labels, book stacks and some feathers in a brown transfer ware pitcher.

I’m loving seeing all the fall inspiration out there, whether from blogs or magazines or store merchandise or catalogs or whatever and although it’s giving me a ton of ideas, I am still resisting taking the big plunge into fall and instead i’m just sticking my toe in the water for now.

The gazillion degree weather I’m sure is affecting my mood and  I’ll share more as I start to immerse myself in the season.

I’ll slowly add acorns and pumpkins and wheat and pine cones and all the fun fall  decor.  Stay tuned I’ll share as I go.
