So today is the first day of school. Yup my kids are back at it & while they hit the books I thought I would share how I love to use books around the house.
As I’ve mentioned before, something my mother instilled in me is that all homes should have plants and books. I have fully embraced both in all the homes I’ve nested.
Although I have plenty of current books I actually read, when it comes to decorating I pick up vintage books at thrifts stores, flea markets, garage sales, etc.
You can also cover your newer books with fabric, paper, paint, etc. in order to compliment your decor style.
7 ways to decorate books
In a previous blog post I shared a bunch of techniques to decorate books just click the link for all the details.
I use books throughout the year in different ways and vignettes.
Books are great risers to give your decor different height variations.
I love all the tatters and rips old books have, adding wonderful texture.
In honor of my most important masterpieces- happy first day of school! I hope this freshman and junior have a wonderful year ahead!

I love how you have decorated with books! I have been wanting to add more sheet music crafts to my music room, and I love the idea of making book covers out of old sheet music. Thanks for the inspiration!
