Yup, it’s august- can you believe it? Our garden{s} have already gone through a few different phases this season.
The season had a weird start, which was unusually slow & cold for these parts. In turn i was also slow on the uptake.
§veggie garden
Mr. Masterpiece is a high energy guy so he actually got the veggie garden up and running in a timely fashion. It’s his happy place.
We remained par for the course as far as our selections are concerned. We planted the usual herbs, several varieties of tomatoes, peppers and lettuces.

We enjoyed the lettuces early on in the season and they were so great to work with. This year we planted read leaf, arugula {my fav} and mache.

We’ve been enjoying the tomatoes for the last few weeks, including varieties of cherry and pear. I prefer the smaller tomatoes for our salads.
I’m still waiting on our peppers although i don’t believe it’s going to happen this year. we swapped the location of where the peppers and tomatoes were planted this year because the tomatoes did not do great last year and the same thing happened to the peppers this year.

Hmmm. I’m thinking something is happening with the soil in that area of the planting boxes. I’m hoping we can amend it for next year’s planting season.

Mary Jo, I so enjoyed visiting in your beautiful garden. We have had the same problem with peppers. I love the bread box planted in flowers. Your lady banks rose is gorgeous trailing down. I too love limelights! Thanks so much for linking at Gardens Galore!
Mary Jo, your garden is lovely! I have one Limelight tree. It is just about to bloom. I love it too! I have gotten a lot of peppers all of a sudden. I made stuffed peppers for dinner last night and hubs and I had the leftovers for lunch today. Nothing like fresh produce from your own garden!
hugs,
Jann
I just love all of it! We have a similar vegetable garden, and the same limelights! I’ve always wanted a white picket fence…….love that arbor, too! Thanks for sharing at Vintage Charm! xo Kathleen|Our Hopeful Home
