spring fling tablescape

It’s raining like crazy around here but it doesn’t prevent me from dreaming about spring.  And preparing for spring.  And bringing spring into the house.

I am super ready to decorate for spring and bring some freshness into our home.  We’re less than a week away from the “official” spring season and about 2-1/2 weeks away from easter.  Whaaat?!?  That’s right around the corner.

I’ll start by sharing this spring inspired tablescape in the dining room.  It ended turning towards heavy on the green so I could even use this for a St. Patrick’s day celebration but it was really the flowers that truly inspired me on this one.

I used simple chamomile blooms lined up in spring green ball jars with some votives woven in between.  In my floral arrangements I tend to lean on one simple bloom repeated or in mass rather than a mix of different flowers.  No particular reason why it just tends to be my style.  I like simple arrangements and when it’s cuttings from your own garden- that’s the absolute best!

I didn’t use any fancy-ware for this tablescape but rather our everyday plates, bowls, silverware, glasses, place-mats etc.  When I set our easter table I’ll bring out the big guns- china and crystal and sterling, making it super festive and special.

Like the majority of my tables, there’s a few pieces from my childhood I inherited from my parents. The water goblets with perrier drinks are part of my parents collection.  I love how simple and delicate they are compared to the heavy crystal and barware we have.

Also the flatware is what I grew up using and I love that now it’s come full circle & my own family uses them.  Mr. Masterpiece loves the profile of the forks and I love their time worn appearance that you can’t duplicate.  I want to add more pieces but I can not find the manufacturer in any of my searches.  The flatware is stamped H.M.O.Rostfr.Stal, if anyone knows something about it I would love to hear.  The flatware is Norweigan is as far as I’ve gotten.

Another delicate detail are the napkins I got  from target years ago, which were part of Rachel Ashwell’s shabby chic collection.  I love them along with the mud pie {bon appetite} napkin rings.  For both of these items I hemmed and hawed before I bought them (especially since I tend to buy in sets of 12 for tabletop items) but I’m glad I pulled the trigger.  They both are used often, enjoyed frequently and loved much.

I love this burst of sunshine in my dining room since it’s so gray and gloomy outside.  I’m ready for open toed shoes, longer days, and flower pots spilling over with fresh blooms and greenery.

While it remains wet and dreary outside i’ll focus on the inside of our home adding fresh flowers, spring touches and easter decor.  I’m excited to share some of these transitions real soon.
