The calendar has flipped the page into february, the season of love. The month of February is highlighted mid point with valentine’s day. and although I’m not a huge red girl or heart girl and even marginally pink girl, I still like to inject a bit of romantic touches throughout our home to commemorate the holiday.
So far I’ve added some blooms around the house but I haven’t necessarily “decorated” for cupid yet. I plan to get to it tomorrow and share shortly.
In the meantime I thought I would share some of the decor vignettes I’ve created in years past.
Like I said, red & I don’t really get along. I barely, barely use red at Christmas time, using mostly silver, gold & white, but for some reason this red mercury glass vase spoke to me. It was perfect last year for some branches adorned with varied hearts.
I saw the vase in the store and passed it up even though it made me look twice. The next time I was in the store it was sitting on a different shelf staring at me. Finally the third time I saw it in the store it had to come home with me, but then I get all paranoid that nobody else bought it during all these visits to the store so maybe it’s not that nice, yada, yada, yada. anyway, I don’t use it often but when I do, I absolutely love it and that’s all that matters.
The year before I created a vignette to honor my grandmother because many of the items she gifted me or I inherited from her have a romantic flair. You can read all about the details here.
This heart is an absolute favorite of mine, which my grandmother did not pass down to me but for the life of me I can’t remember where i️ got it. I would love to add more to my repertoire but I don’t know where to go. Insert sad face.
The year before that I created a centerpiece vignette on our kitchen table which also had a really fun & casual tablescape. You can read and see more details here.
I remember the whole family enjoyed this and it lasted for a few weeks. I love when the corner of pretty and practical meet up. Of course, this is when the Masterpiece kiddos were still entertained by all this stuff. Alas! It’s incredible how much they have changed in a couple of short years.
But it doesn’t stop this momma from decorating, cooking, crafting, etc. through the seasons. I believe they secretly still love it they’re just too cool to admit it.
I pass it up myself, but love all the things you’ve done! And I hear you about those kiddos…..:) Thanks for sharing at Vintage Charm. xo Kathleen|Our Hopeful Home
