In Christmas decorating, one of the hot trends going for sometime now are the farmhouse pick up trucks with Christmas trees sticking out of the bed in the back or the old fashion wooden station wagons with a tree tied to the roof.
I’ve seen it on ornaments, pillows, table top, decor, you name it… I have an old vintage toy truck from Master Masterpiece’s nursery that I saved through the years because I loved it so, so when the trend started a few years back I jumped right in with both feet, using boo pumpkins and bottle brush trees to adorn it.
Remember this from a couple of Christmases ago? The only toy under the tree {sniff} since the Masterpiece kiddos are too school for cool.
And this? On the fall porch a couple of years ago.
Well, then this year I couldn’t walk away from this truck with wooden sides that I told you all about here.
Either last year or the year before {I can’t remember anymore} I picked up these place mats at target with the famous woodie station wagon and the honorary tree strapped on top.
Which brings me to this tablescape. so, So, SO fun to put together as I decorate the house.
I set it in the kitchen since I find the motif to be more casual and a bit whimsical.
The new truck gets center stage and each place setting is adorned with said place mats and a green ball jar with a bottle brush tree and some jingle bells.
I also used my salt and pepper shaker ornaments with mini bottle brushes I created a few years back. You can read the DIY tutorial here.
I’m almost finished decorating {well are we ever really finished?} but I’ll share when I feel it’s ready enough. LOL.
Mr. Masterpiece pruned and cut the Christmas tree just so that it gave me plenty of branches to play with. II stuck a little piece with the napkins and silverware in a grapevine napkin ring.
I love these Anthropologie glasses that are a combination of milk glass and depression glass, which are both favorites of mine.
Hope you’re all enjoying the start to this wonderful holiday season.
Have you started decorating? Are you done? I love all the inspiration I’ve already seen all over blogland and can’t wait to see more!’
