My Thanksgiving tablescape is ready to go for the main event and I realized the table consisted of mixed metals which normally can be a difficult task for me to do.
A little bit of gold details and some silver basics plus copper, which is perfect for this time of year.
Whether it’s jewelry or couture or decor I’ve had to purposely work at mixing metals since it does not come naturally to me. Growing up it all had to match right? Forget that!!
I’m so happy this inadvertently came together and i did not have to “force” myself to do it.
Hopefully this is a sign that it’s become more natural for me and I’ve become more comfortable with it. Loving that!
It started with my idea of gold pumpkins at each place setting so I spray painted some dollar tree pumpkins. It was pretty easy and inexpensive.
I deconstructed the pumpkins with the adornments that came with them and then added my own stem from branches I found in the yard & leaves from my craft stash. I sprayed all of it with gold spray paint and the gold ties in with the gold trimmed glassware and china.
Then of course I have my sterling silverware and candelabras that I use for all my special tables. You can read the details about my sterling here.
I was lucky enough to inherit my copper chargers from my parents and the copper double boiler was a gift from my in-laws after a trip to France. I used it as a center piece with lime light hydrangeas from the garden which have turned a beautiful burnt color with a few pheasant feathers. You can see more copper details here.
I included a Thanksgiving prayer for our place setting cards, where we can write our thankful message on the back which we share around the table during dinner as we break bread. Here‘s a compilation of other place cards I’ve used in the past.
This year it’s only the 4 main Masterpiece family together. At first I was a bit sad not to have more family and friends with us and I considered volunteering to feed the poor in the city but my family really wanted to be together at home, watching the parade and football, cooking together and enjoying each other. It gave me pause, since these days are few and numbered and I’m embracing the closeness of “just us” this year.
I’ve staged my server ware and other items I might need to make it easier on the big day when it’ll be super busy. I have a couple of older posts to help you be prepared and organized for the thanksgiving holiday.
I have to admit I’m actually looking forward to a relaxed and chill holiday since it’s “just us”.
All the shopping is done and all we need to pick up on wednesday is Mr. turkey and some chocolate | caramel apples we ordered from the local chocolatier that are to die for and a favorite around here so in lieu of apple pie.
