we all have those running lists of our long coveted items that have remained out of our reach for whatever the reason, being because they are hard to find, or out of our price range, or frequently damaged or anything else.
For me one of these items had been vintage coke crates BUT the caveat was no red. Yup, I wanted a Coca-Cola product that did not use the color red. Because I had seen the green crates with white or black lettering or the plain crates with black lettering and my heart was set on those.
I saw them in pictures or magazines but they weren’t readily available at vintage fairs, markets or shoppes that I frequented. Then within the same couple of weeks my girlfriend found one at a business liquidation sale at a decent price. She snapped a picture for me, told me the price and made the purchase for me. Gotta love when even your girlfriends know what’s on your coveted list.
Then at the goathill fair I shared how i found a biggie item on my list, a goat cart, which I shared in this post BUT Mr. Masterpiece also found another coke crate on this trip and he wanted me to have it. So now I have two and I love them!
I can stack them or use them to corral a bunch of items to make them look organized and pretty. Right now one sits on top of the curio cabinet in the kitchen with all my green bottles that normally sit on the kitchen table.
The kitchen table has some fall decor now. I will share more soon…
And over the summer I had my large bulb crate with my green urns on top of the curio cabinet, which now the urns are on the fall mantel which I shared the other day.
AND the bulb crate is on the coffee table now which i’ll also share in more detail real soon but here’s a sneak peek…
I love transitioning decor items to accommodate for the new looks of the seasons or holidays. It’s a synchronized dance of decor musical chairs. I know you know all too well what I’m talking about.
On our bar station in the dining room I corralled our bar ware for Mr. Masterpiece. As far as my Coke crate hunt you can read a bit about it here when I shared this patriotic tablescape.
So this was over a year ago and the hunt had been going on for awhile before that. So you see it’s worth waiting to find the right item at the right time because it will always make you smile when you look at it and you’ll never have buyers remorse or look back. That’s been my experience anyway.
Here are other long coveted items that I’ve conquered.
I love this old typewriter that sits on my mother’s secretary desk.
Specific things I’m still looking for are a Turkish children’s bathtub for the patio to use with plants & flowers and as a beverage station when we entertain. I’m also on the hunt for a large silver|silverplate dome for the dining room. And I would love an old beat up galvanized tub for our christmas tree.
What’s on your list?
“Coca-Cola sold only 25 bottles in its first year never give up!”

I remember having cases of Coke in crates as a kid. My parents would buy it at the “beverage store.” Little did I know they would become coveted items:) I know what you mean about things you look out for. My wishes change from year to year. Right now I’m obsessed with finding an affordable chippy shabby white wood fireplace mantel! Wish me luck!

It was well worth the wait and I’m happy to hear you have what you’ve been wanting. Slowly but surely I’m giving in to fall but not without a bit of whining. The green glass collection is great and it looks right at home in the coke crate on top of your curio. I’m looking forward to seeing more of your fall decor and so happy that you share with us each week at Celebrate Your Story. Have a great weekend!

So lucky! I have been collecting Coca-Cola since I was 17! Now I use more neutrals so it would be wonderful to find a crate like this. Great post!
