thanksgiving tablescape & menu

We are one week away from the Thanksgiving feast.

I’m happy to say i’ve finally finalized my tablescape & my menu.

Some things grace our table regularly when we host Thanksgiving.
And others are new additions this year.
IMG_7866
Our Johnson Bros. transferware plates only come out to play once a year and this would be their time to shine.  The beautiful large platter will hold the carved turkey as well.
My parent’s sterling silverware comes out to play whenever I feel the table calls for it.
This would be one of those times.

The same goes for our Waterford crystalware we received for our wedding and my grandparent’s gold rimmed, etched water glasses.  These glasses I do not believe have any intrinsic value but are so special to me since they moved with my grandparents from Spain to Uruguay when my dad was 2 years of age and then came to the USA with me several years ago.

New this year is the vintage turkey chocolate | candy mold I bought from a fellow consignor at Paris Flea Market { I’m no longer a consignor there but I frequent often as a shopper~love it there!}.
Isn’t this 3-piece mold amazing?  One of a kind for sure!

A turkey trio sit on top of some old books inside my bread bowl for the center piece.  The green glass turkey compote is a depression glass reproduction from Williams-Sonoma my MIL gifted me many years ago when we hosted our 1st Thanksgiving.  It usually serves the fresh cranberry sauce but this year it’s front & center.  The other cute turkey is just from a local craft store.

I also recently picked up this table runner at The Vintage House in Brentwood, CA.
IMG_7887
It reads “thank you for the food before us the friends beside us and the love between us”
{love}
This will be used for many years to come.

Also new this year are these chargers I found at Hobby Lobby & didn’t even know I needed.
; ) {wink}
At first glance I knew they were coming home with me.  Never bought chargers before in my life.  The ones I own I inherited from my parents, but these spoke to me & had my name all over them.

For my place cards I used these antlers from Walmart all thanks to Susan @ Between naps on the porch.  make sure to read her post, it’s full of great info.
IMG_7884
The antlers sit on a bread&butter plate, which are part of our Lenox wedding china.  Once everyone finds their spot they can simply move the plates over to use for their warm, crusty rolls.
For the placecards I stamped vellum envelopes with everyone’s name & inside I slipped a tag with a stamped date for the year where we can write about our gratitude and share with the table.
 You can read about how we did it last year here.

Do u see what I see?
As I was taking my photographs I noticed this book.  Do u see Bambi’s antlers on the spine of the book?  It ties right in w/ the place card antlers.  now, to be clear, I WILL be the only one that notices this, but it’s all in the details whether intentional or not.

I thought my parent’s candelabras were too elaborate for this table so I embellished some Dollar Tree candles w/ sheet music, burlap, twine & a pinecone for a more rustic feel.

Now that the menu is finalized I printed it on Jenn’s free chalkboard printable @ clean&scentsible and placed them around the table on some old floral frogs.
By the way, I’m having a love affair with chalkboard art.  More on that later.

  1. What a gorgeous table! I love that turkey chocolate mold and the chargers and runners are gorgeous! I think I saw the chargers at Hobby Lobby. I was so tempted to buy them as well. I really like the addition of the chalkboard menus also. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
    hugs,
    Jann

I love hearing from you!
